Villa Farm Wedding Photography – Bianca & Cal

outdoor wedding ceremony at villa farm

The weather was perfect for photographing Bianca and Cal’s wedding, which was a good job too as when you get married at Villa Farm, you get married outside. My first outdoor wedding and it was perfect.

Reunion with past Bride and Groom

I first met Bianca and Cal when I was photographing Jemma and Stu’s wedding. One of my first ever weddings where Bianca was a bridesmaid and now the roles were reversed. It’s always great to see my past couples and catch up with them. Especially hearing the drunken stories of the wedding party after I had left.

Villa Farm Luxury Weddings

Villa Farm in York is a great place to get married. Not only does it allow for an outdoor wedding ceremony, but allows you and your guests to stay in luxury holiday cottages with hot tubs! Meaning the wedding party doesn’t just start and stop on your wedding day. Villa Farm has a great space to make your own too, whether its a Yurt, tipi, marquee or some other fantastic outdoor structure that is great to photograph.

DIY Italian Yurt Wedding

Bianca and Cal had gone down the Yurt route from Yorkshire Yurts, which complemented the Villa Farm cottages nicely and they did an amazing job decorating the inside with fairy lights, hessian and white wild flowers. The bar area was super relaxed too, filled with giant bean bags and swedish fur blankets. For the wedding breakfast they’d gone down Bianca’s Italian roots and had Krave Deli do Italian Tapas and then oven baked pizza for the evening reception. Even the cake was Italian inspired, covered in shells and macaroons created by the very talented LouLou’s Meringues.  One of the benefits of being a wedding photographer is that we sometimes get fed amazing food, I’d definitely recommend them if you’re doing a DIY wedding.

The evening was finished off with sparklers. It’s a perfect way to finish off your wedding photos and a lot of fun for the guests. As it was the height of summer, it wasn’t possible to do the long trailed sparkler shot as it needs to be pretty much pitch black for a long shutter speed. However, gathering everyone to wave a sparkler with the bride and groom is a lot more fun and sets up for some great reactions.

Bianca and Cal, thank you for choosing me photograph your gorgeous DIY wedding at Villa Farm.

“They’re amazing! Thank you so much you captured the day perfectyl! I even felt emotional again!” – Bianca and Cal
