Get ready to be bored to death because here's the legal bit that tells you all about what I do with your data and why I need it (mainly just so I can get hold of you before the big day).
Blame GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation), but in its defence, it does give you more rights and options on what happens to your data and information once you've handed it over. So it's all good.

In case anyone had any doubt; "Me", "I", "we", "us" and "our" all refer to Matt Thompson Photography.

How will this affect you?

In the big scheme of things, it won't. I have always collected this sort of data and information in a secure way, but if you want clarification on how, why and what, carry on reading.

What information is being collected and why?

I'm yet to become one of the x-men and have powers like Professor X, so I need this information to contact you and provide the best service possible.

So what do I collect?

Just the basics pretty much. The things I need to contact you by. So your names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers and other contact information that I may need. Obviously, if you book me, I'll hold more information about you like where you're getting married, your gender and other information regarding your wedding or photo session. If you like to use Facebook or other forms of social media and want to contact me from them (which is absolutely fine), any information will be stored securely within these accounts.

Who is collecting the data?

Me! My cats may also see some information, but I'm yet to tell if they can 1. Read and 2. Communicate with the outside world.

How is it being collected?

All information comes directly from you, whether that's by email, one of my website forms, WhatsApp or pigeon carrier. If it does come from another source, i.e. someone might buy you a voucher, I will tell you where it came from. But don't worry, I'm not in the business of buying anyone's data from third parties.

How will it be used?

So I can make millions selling it on the black market. JOKE! That's a joke. I WILL NOT sell it to anyone. Any information collected will be used purely to contact you and provide you with a service. Your email address may be used in marketing emails, but I'm pretty lazy, so you suddenly won't be getting a ton of spam when you give me your email address. You can, of course, opt-out of these at any time.

Photos are data too

Images, believe it or not are a form of data and I may use your images in the following ways for promotion and advertising:
- On social media
- My own website
- For flyers, business cards and other marketing materials
- In magazines, online blogs and other online marketing services.

Who will it be shared with?

I've already done the black market joke, so you know I'm not selling it to any third party. Your information may be shared with third-party companies though when processing orders. For example, delivery names, addresses, and contact numbers if I ever send orders directly to you. I am by law required to provide data to law enforcement agencies if issued with a court order (not that has ever happened though).

How long is the data stored?

Indefinitely, it allows me to give you the best service possible. By law, I am legally required to keep certain data for a minimum amount of time. Just in case the taxman comes a-knocking, I can provide him with all the relevant sales and invoice information. You, of course, have the right to tell me to delete, burn, destroy any data that I may have on you. You also have the right to request any data that I have you on as well.

More information

As it's just me, I am the one who processes and controls all data for Matt Thompson Photography. If you need more information on how I collect, store or process data, you can contact me here.
