Campervan, classic MG and circus skills, I can’t wait for Emma & Russell’s wedding in just under 2 months time. Their pre-wedding took place in their back garden where they’ll be having their reception. It made for a perfect place as they’re new addition (Skye) could run around freely.
Documentary Photography
Usually my pre-wedding photo shoots are more posed and aim more for the fine art side of things, but with 2 kids and dog running around, the documentary photographer in me definitely worked better. Russell loves working on his cars and owns not 1, but 3 classic MGs as well as a gorgeous classic campervan. My wife (who is obsessed with campervans) was extremely jealous. These will also be their wedding cars too, arriving and leaving their wedding ceremony in style at Cannon Hall in West Yorkshire.
Family Pre-Wedding Photography
Not all engagement photo shoots have to be couple based, I love capturing families having fun together and this is definitely what Emma & Russell did with their kids. A favourite was definitely swing ball, which I haven’t played since I was a kid on a beach. I even joined the kids on the trampoline too. I much prefer getting up close and personal when photographing. It means I get to join in on the fun, it’s one of the bonuses of being a wedding photographer that you get to join in on the fun.
Fun, relaxed and more fun
I did however try to get some couple shots, try being the correct word as the kids loved to join in too and photobomb the shot. Did I step in and stop them? Did I hell! I loved the fun of it and stopping it would of spoilt the moment. Plus at weddings I don’t like to be bossy and tell guests what to do, I let things unfold as they happen and capture the moment. Unless of course I’m doing the group photos and then the ‘loud’ voice comes out. The kids photobombing also made Emma and Russell laugh, which is my main aim anyway. As long as my couples are laughing and relaxed, I don’t really care what’s going on.
